Newsflash!

In June of this year we were contacted by the events team of an International news organisation to help celebrate a major anniversary. To celebrate their 30th anniversary they needed to tie in a challenging event with thirty of the top news stories of the last thirty years. A great concept and just what we are good at!

The Event Brief –

  • The team brief would be at the company offices in London, the teams would stop for lunch in a central area, and then  gather at the final destination.
  • The groups would be taking public transport travelling to complete challenges and answer questions at over fifty hot spots ranging from Hyde Park to Tower Hill.
  • The event would include 100% bespoke content provided by the client based on some of the most famous news stories over the last 30 years with the questions being revealed in areas where the news story took place.
  • There would be 100 guests

Planning The Event –

The recce was first conducted online followed by a day trip to London to look over shortlisted sites. Clues to the challenge questions needed to be familiar but not the sort of thing that could be easily searched on line for.

Locations we selected at even distances from each other but needed to have a connection with the story, so for example the 1981 Charles and Dianna Wedding question was located at Buckingham Palace while the Nelson Mandela question was at his statue next to the Houses Of Parliament.article-0-0184C000000004B0-903_634x454

Questions were researched and added to our software to create the clients bespoke event. As with all our bespoke events a live demo was conducted with the client on more than one occasion to ensure they were happy with the end result prior to their event.

As well as the clients bespoke questions we kept a good mix of video and photo challenges within the event which allowed us to display a slideshow at the end of the event. Again as with all our events this provided a hilarious overview from the teams activities throughout the day and a great ending to the event!

The client also offered an incentive of an Apple Watch for each of the winning team members. For this reason we needed the scoring to be transparent and by the book.

On The Day

On the day we delivered an event for just under 100 very competitive people. Each team was given a travel budget and were free to use any means of transport at their disposal.

The client had chosen venues for both the lunch and finale so we were kept on the move whilst still observing the event online and keeping the teams up to date with any game changes and scoring!

This was a full day event from 10.00-16.30 with one clients fitbit recording 12 miles of walking!

The package was such success that the client has now asked if we could repeat the same package in Hong Kong…..We are looking forward to that one 🙂
