Our clients brief

Following our previous success, we were delighted to deliver a second ‘Amazing Race’ themed event for a valued previous client. It was a pleasure to continue our relationship with them as they transitioned from Penta hotels to their new role at LG Hotels.

After being impressed with their previous experience with ClueGo, this client made it their priority to bring the concept to their new team at LGH Hotels.

The event was planned to start and finish in Oxford and run over a period of 24hrs. This Amazing Race needed to include GPS checkpoints as far South as Southampton, and as North as Aberdeen. The route needed to push the teams to their limit, whilst incorporating a clear focus on time management, logistical planning and leadership.

Also required for this event was a scoring system where individual teams could combine their scores in alliance with others; there were players from 7 different regions around the UK so they needed a way for everyone to be able to participate.

Our client would give the teams a budget for travel, food and accommodation; they also planned to deal out bonuses for any teams that were using their funds in the most sustainable and efficient way.

A short planning session of 2 hours would be provided before leaving the Oxfordshire venue, as well as a deadline for the teams to return the following day with penalty points for late arrivals!

On their return the following day, all teams were to be tasked with presenting an overview of their experience, including their key takeaways and learning outcomes.

As always, the team with the most points wins!

The Amazing Race

game on!

Our guests arrived at the Holiday Inn Oxford for a briefing at 11.30am sharp on the 15th October 2025 and met with James, our event manager.

Prior to meeting with James, the next few days were a complete mystery to the guests; they were not told anything about the challenge and simply had to arrive with an overnight bag and comfortable clothing.

“Whilst presenting the briefing, all I could see was people faces light up with excitement as I explained the task and challenges that would confront the teams over the next 24hrs” ( Quote from James)

The briefing concluded with James announcing to teams they would be given an initial planning session over lunch before they depart at 14:00pm. They would have 24 hours for the challenge, and the deadline of 14:00pm on the 16th for arrival back to the venue was set.

The teams were now ready to face their biggest and best team challenge to date!

24hrs of challenges

Using the interactive map within our app, teams had to research the location of 36 city based checkpoints spread all over the UK.

They also had to consider the location of 38 LGH hotels, the aim was to visit as many as possible to receive extra bonus points! Not to mention the 250 interactive challenges, 60 photo and video based opportunities and time based rewards for collecting virtual tokens on route!

All of the above checkpoints and challenges would only trigger on the iPad once a team arrives at that certain location. Therefore planning a route and choosing the correct form of transport to get there would be the key to success!

risks and rewards

Scoring for this challenge worked on a system of risk and reward. Point values were scaled based on distance from Oxford; the further the destination, the higher the reward. Therefore time management and leadership would be vital for teams to succeed.

Taking risks in this game can make a massive difference to the scores so some of the teams took full advantage and really pushed the boundaries!

One of the teams drove from Oxford, all the way to Aberdeen, and back again in time to meet the all important deadline! Other teams used trains and tubes to travel around London before jumping on a plane to Aberdeen, hiring cars and driving back.

Bonus rewards were given to teams that travelled to the hotel chains properties; there they met with staff and completed challenges. These locations had a very high points value and also contributed to a bonus scheme which added an additional incentive for staff to visit as many of these hotels as possible.

As with all our events there were plenty of opportunities to complete creative photo and video challenges which were presented to the teams when they returned to the venue. For this event the teams were also tasked with recording videos to report on their progress and team morale as they travelled around the UK.

In order to ensure the teams rested at some point, we remotely shut down the teams iPads at 23:00pm and started them up again at 06:00am the following day.

“Clever teams took photos of the map before we shut down their iPads and arrived at their next checkpoint ready for the app to start again to take the advantage!” (Quote from James)

Although this was somewhat against the rules, we admired their tenacity and determination to succeed!

Conclusion

Review from Andrew Munt – CEO LGH Hotels

“Hope you had a good weekend.  Just wanted to thank you again for last week!  Wow, it was just awesome!  We’ve had so much great feedback from the team and many comments about how it did everything we wanted in terms of bringing them together and thinking differently.  And to you personally, I cannot thank you enough for putting everything you did into ensuring it was as great as it could be!

Truly hope we can do stuff together again.  As discussed, no idea how we will top it next year but everyone wants this to be an annual competition now!

Keep in touch and many thanks! “
