Windsor Treasure Hunt
Forget Buckingham Palace. As far as the Queen is concerned her home is and has always been Windsor.
Located on the Thames fifty miles to the West of London City Centre, Windsor has a lovely small town feel that hits hard in terms of historical content.
The castle like most UK castles has grown in size since it was first built by William the Conqueror in 1076. The town was a favourite residence of the Plantagenet and Tudors Kings, and many of the towns buildings stretch in time.
The Irish Guards have their barracks there and this is celebrated throughout the town with monuments and gardens dedicated to their heroism.
The parks and gardens are a joy, you might even find yourself standing in a park with the Queen and her corgis, in bronze of course.
Windsor is also the home of the exclusive Annus Horribilis photo challenge where the teams have to portray their own horrible year, or whatever else they interpret that to mean!
The Thames cuts right through the town but a short walk over the river and up the beautiful High Street and you end up at Eton School.
